Motherland in Heart,World in Eyes——the 19th Bilingual Festival at Xincheng Garden Primary School
The beginning of this December comes with the 19th Bilingual Festival at Xincheng Garden Primary School in SIP. This festival aims to put forward fine traditional culture and improve national culture confidence among students.
Grade 1&2—— New Year songs
Students from Grade 1 has just started learning English, however, their confidence and performance is no less than the students from higher grades. They are quite passionate about this festival with the help of their teachers. Listen, they presents us songs such as Happy New Year, We wish you a Merry Christmas, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I wanna say thank you. The students of Grade 2 surprises us with songs like Santa, Christmas Tree, Happy New Year and so on. Their smiles and moves melt everyone’s heart. Wanna come and join them?
Middle Grade——Poster Show
Look! The students from Grade 3 and Grade 4 are quite concentrated watch the movies Mulan and Journey to the West. They have great fun watching the movies and are lost in a myriad of thoughts. After watching the films, they draw down their feelings and thoughts about the movies. Their posters show their understandings of the two classic stories, such as Mulan’s courage to take her father’s place in the army regardless of many obstacles and Monkey King’s fearlessness and determination to get into the water-curtain cave. This event allows students to relearn the spirits of these classic heroes, and encourages them to be fearless and aspirant. The standards of being a good teenager in this new era lies not only in mastering textbook knowledge and having good language attainments, but also in having exuberant spirit. And our students are the ones with the qualities above.

Grade 5 Poster-making about Chinese traditions
Having a good command of English language and using it to tell Chinese stories well have always been the main goal in our English teaching. To help students learn and use English better, this festival for students from Grade 5 unfolds with the theme: Motherland and I. This event gives the students a chance to appreciate our splendid civilization while learning English through English storytelling of traditional Chinese festivals.
Look, stories about Spring Festival and Dragon Boat Festival are finally told with the students’ great efforts and the cooperation of their friends and family. Though not perfect, they experiences culture and language differences, and their national pride are stirred up through their own storytelling; others draw down festivals like Moon Cakes Day and Double Ninth Festival; some also work together and paint on the blackboards to express their love for our traditional culture.
Grade 6 Promotion of representative Chinese cities
The students form Grade 6 center their theme on Chinese representative cities. For example, they can study regions south of the Yangtze River, which includes Suzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Shanghai, and they can arrange their study by their own interests. This allows them to show their love for picturesque landscape, traditional culture and culture of modern cities of our country.
Students are able to join different kinds of groups according to what they are good at. The groups help and collaborate with one another if needed. In this way they can dig into every city.
In the end, the teachers collects the students’ works, the handmade landmarks of the citie, including Suzhou Center and Suzhou Gardens, West Lake and Leifeng Tower in Hangzhou, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Qinhuai River in Nanjing, and the Oriental Pearl Towerand the Huangpu River in Shanghai.
The 19th Bilingual Festival enhances the building of English culture, stimulates students’ interest in learning English, and enables students to experience the joy of learning English. Through fair-sounding songs, beautiful posters, poster shows and wonderful speeches, the students can show their language abilities and spread the charm of language and Chinese culture, and strive to be little ambassadors of our culture.
